Hearing Aids

Did you know that there’s more than one type and style of hearing aid available? In an effort to meet the demanding and unique needs of those suffering from hearing loss, hearing aid manufacturers have created many types and styles. These varying styles are suitable for every type and degree of hearing loss, from mild to severe. Read more about the types of hearing aids available at Beck Hearing Aid Centre.

Styles of Hearing Aids

When it comes to finding the right device for your needs, you have several styles and features to choose from. At Beck Hearing Aid Centre, our hearing instrument specialists can fit you with the following types:

  • Behind the ear (BTE): BTE hearing aids are one of the more common devices available on the market. They are larger in size than other, more discreet styles, but can be used for all types and degrees of hearing loss. BTE hearing aids can come with earmolds, which provide a custom fit and a more advanced listening experience. They are also available in a smaller size; the mini BTE is usually accompanied with a slim tube and tip for a more discreet appearance.
  • In the ear (ITE): ITE hearing aids, also known as full-shell devices, are custom-fit for individuals. These hearing aids sit on the outside of the ear canal. Because of their size and power, they are suitable for individuals with all types of hearing loss, even severe.
  • Invisible in canal (IIC): IIC devices are, as their name implies, so small that others cannot see the device. The hearing aid fits deep into the ear canal, but is still easy to remove. IIC hearing aids are suitable for individuals with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
  • Completely in canal (CIC): CIC hearing aids also fit completely in the ear canal, though not as deep as the IIC hearing aids. CIC devices are much like IIC hearing aids, as they are suitable for individuals with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
  • Receiver in canal (RIC): RIC hearing aids are only slightly visible to the observer. These devices are suitable for those with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
