April

Administrative Assistant

I grew up in London and spent several years in Toronto when I was in my early twenties. I attended Huron Heights Public School, and then went to Lucas High School, followed by Beal High School. After graduation, I studied at the University of Toronto, OIART and at Fanshawe.

I chose to pursue working for Beck Hearing Aid Centre because health care and medical science have always been present in my family in various forms. It's so appealing to me to know that by being part of the health-care world, everything I do in my daily routine is working directly to help people who need support.

As the administrative assistant to the team, I work behind the scenes to help the clinicians stay focused on their patients. I manage client information, get client paperwork and Beck paperwork where it needs to go, and keep things moving in terms of how Beck interfaces with the hearing healthcare ecosystem. I also help the Central Office team with general support by being another set of eyes, ears and hands for them in whatever way might make their lives easier.

I get a real sense of pride knowing that everything I am doing at Beck is directly in service of helping people in need. I also love being a helpful and dependable teammate. Doing things to support the team and helping Treva with "special projects," all while knowing I'm an essential part of the organization, give me a sense of meaningfully contributing every minute of the day.

When I’m not working, I like playing music, games, reading and a bit of TV. I also enjoy learning about all kinds of random things, keeping up with my fitness and being present for my friends and family.

If you could have dinner with one person, who would you choose?

Agatha Christie. I just love mystery and detective stories, especially hers.
